INITIAL SERVICES:

INITIAL FACILITY INSPECTION CHECKLIST

We'll provide you with an initial comprehensive checklist for you to inspect your facility. You'll receive an email reminder when this inspection is due as well as instructions. You'll learn how to walk through your facility and identify potential hazards and violations in the shop; and you'll have the solutions on how to remedy the items out of compliance. This hands-on approach ensures continual awareness of violations and the ability to correct them before any accidents or other hazards arise. Additionally, it will give you piece of mind knowing that your shop is in compliance in case of a surprise visit from OSHA!

EVACUATION ROUTE

1910.38 Emergency Action Plans (a) Application. An employer must have an emergency action plan whenever an OSHA standard in this part requires one. The requirements in this section apply to each such emergency action plan. Procedures for emergency evacuation, including type of evacuation and exit route assignments

With our how-to sketch video, you will be guided through creating a quick sketch of your shop and uploading it to your dashboard. Your shop will then receive a professional laminated computerized drawing in your welcome kit. The evacuation route lists the location of all exit doors and meeting places in cases of emergency. You are required to place these signs by your exit doors and other visible locations for your emergency action plan.

WRITTEN SAFETY PROGRAM

1910.1200(e)(1) Written Safety Program Employers shall develop, implement, and maintain at each workplace, a written hazard communication program which at least describes how the criteria specified in paragraphs (f), (g), and (h) of this section for labels and other forms of warning, safety data sheets, and employee information and training will be met.

Your shop will be provided with the required written safety program. This is usually one of the first items that an OSHA inspector will ask for upon an inspection: the written programs outline policies and procedures for specific safety issues such as Fire Safety, PPE, Lock-Out/Tag-Out and much more. Your shop will receive this program in a custom binder in your welcome kit.

COMPLIANCE SIGNAGE

1926.200 Accident prevention sign and tags (a) General. Signs and symbols required by this subpart shall be visible at all times when work is being performed, and shall be removed or covered promptly when the hazards no longer exist.

AAMS will provide 15 signs for your shop in your welcome kit. These signs will help you and your employees to be aware of hazardous conditions, promote safe working practices and caution in certain areas of the shop.

MONTHLY SERVICES:

MONTHLY SAFETY TRAINING TOPICS

Under federal law, workplaces are required to provide safety training to employees at no cost to the employee and during work hours. Annual training generally occurs one year from an employee's previous training, although safety-conscious collision repair facilities have daily and weekly safety "toolbox" meetings.

Monthly Safety Topics are on-the-job safety training sessions that last 10-15 minutes. These topics are a convenient, yet effective tool for employers to reinforce continuing education and further enhance training on a broader range of subjects on the fundamentals of safe work practices. These meetings are often conducted in the beginning of a shift, printed off and visible in the break room for employees to read over on their break. A roster is also provided for employees to sign acknowledging their participation.

FIRE EXTINGUISHER CHECK

1910.157 Portable Fire Extinguishers c)(4) The employer shall assure that portable fire extinguishers are maintained in a fully charged and operable condition and kept in their designated places at all times except during use. (d)(2) Portable extinguishers or hose shall be visually inspected monthly.

Although most fire marshals will check your fire extinguishers and sprinkler systems every year, many shops are unaware that OSHA requires that portable fire extinguishers be checked in-house monthly. We will send email notifications and reminders to keep you up to date on this task. Your dashboard keeps these inspections for proof that it was completed in case of an OSHA inspection.

QUARTERLY SERVICES:

QUARTERLY SHOP INSPECTION

Before conducting an inspection OSHA compliance officers research the inspection history of a worksite using various data sources, review the operations and processes in use and the standards most likely to apply. They gather appropriate personal protective equipment and testing instruments to measure potential hazards. Reference: OSHA Fact Sheet

Much like the Initial Walk-through, this review tells you where your shop stands on compliance issues. This checklist will continue to promote awareness of any hazards or violations to your shop's mangers and employees so that you can correct the violation. Additionally, it serves as proof that you are conducting periodic reviews as needed.

FORMS

Certain forms are required by OSHA to be completed and posted or on file. We provide you with all of the required forms and notify you when they are due. These forms are important for the body shop to help continue safety awareness as well as required tasks and checklists.

ANNUAL SERVICES:

REQUIRED OSHA/EPA TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION

1910.9 Compliance duties owed to each employee (b) Training. Standards in this part requiring training on hazards and related matters, such as standards requiring that employees receive training or that the employer train employees, provide training to employees, or institute or implement a training program, impose a separate compliance duty with respect to each employee covered by the requirement. The employer must train each affected employee in the manner required by the standard, and each failure to train an employee may be considered a separate violation.

To comply with the OSHA and EPA rules & regulations, as wells as reduce workplace injuries, businesses are required to give annual training & testing to all employees on potential workplace hazards. AAMStraining.com custom videos and testing focuses on the specific topics in collision repair facilities that are likely to be the source of an OSHA/EPA violation. After employees pass the tests, the required certificates of completion will be available to print for each employee and in the reports area for managers to always view.

1910.134 Fit Testing Procedures (Mandatory) (f) states, "Before an employee may be required to use any respirator with a negative or positive pressure tight-fitting face piece, the employee must be fit tested with the same make, model, style and size of respirator that will be used. This information must be retained until the next fit test is administered. (4) The employer shall provide respirators, training, and medical evaluations at no cost to the employee.
